Noreen Seabrook

This rug design was created for a school competition sponsored by Noreen Seabrook. The project was to create a contemporary, 9'X12' rug that Noreen Seabrook would eventually hand knot in Nepal and sell in their showroom. I won first place in this competition and had my rug created over the span of 4 months. The rug itself is silk and pashmina with carving around the lacy design. My original artwork was created with oil paint and water color dye. The two mediums obviously did not mix together, but instead created a subtle yet contemporary background to my original laser cut lace design in the opposing corners. The best part about this competition is that Noreen Seabrook agreed to make a duplicate of this rug for my home!
